Parish Nurse
Due to the forthcoming retirement of our current parish nurse The Two Rivers Mission Community, in partnership with Parish Nursing UK, is seeking to appoint a parish nurse to offer holistic health care across 55 square miles of rural north Devon. She/he will work on behalf of, and in collaboration with, the local Anglican churches and partner with other statutory and voluntary organisations.
We seek to appoint a parish nurse who is qualified to support young families antenatally, postnatally and in the early years and ideally who is also able to offer support for the elderly, sick, dying, bereaved, and their families.
We see parish nursing as an integral part of a broad and holistic mission to reach out to our local communities with the love of God and to serve their needs in practical ways. It is therefore a genuine occupational requirement that our parish nurse is a practicing Christian and is able to sensitively and appropriately explore spiritual issues raised by service users and to pray with them if requested.
Parish nursing is already well-embedded in the life of our parishes. Our current parish nurse has established excellent links with other local health care professionals. A new nurse would not be starting from scratch. He/she will come with a desire to build on the existing work and find ways to meet the ever-changing challenges faced by our small, beautiful, but often under-resourced communities.
Terms of employment: our genuine desire is to find the right person for this role and to make it possible for them to fulfil it. Funds are available to meet full expenses. We are in a position to offer a salary for up to 7 hours per week. For someone able to offer more hours we would look creatively at funding, including giving from existing church members.
